Edinburgh Yarn Festival 2019

IMG_7890In March 2019 I visited Edinburgh for the annual yarn festival, which is so popular with knitters across the globe the tickets tend to sell out within minutes (or even seconds!).  In both 2018 and 2019 I was excited to have several of my designs on display at the Border Mill stand, including two brand new ones (Maria Donato Top and Basilico Cowl) released in March 2019.

IMG_7892The event is a wonderful opportunity to meet knitters from all over the world – I made contact with fellow knitters and designers from all around Europe, North America, Singapore and Australia.  I also spotted my hand (wearing my San Donato mitts) in the festival newspaper and won a ‘style award’ from the Stephen and Penelope booth for my outfit (featuring my new Maria Donato Top) – woo hoo!

I also managed some sightseeing around Edinburgh, including a visit to the Orla Kiely exhibition at Dovecot Tapestry Studios where I heard a talk by Clare Hunter about her wonderful book “Threads of Life: A History of the World through the Eye of a Needle” as serialised on BBC Radio 4.  Finally, I paid a visit to Dundee to see the new V&A museum – very impressive!
